The Avengers Movie Impression

Yes this the first time that we will be making a movie review, and this movie deserves to get a review. And of course, I’ll be making this review spoiler-free for those who haven’t watch the movie.

Now we have seen a lot of superhero team films before; the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and some of these a pretty good (X-Men except for the third movie) while some were a lackluster. We still have not found a super hero team movie that will give us the epic wow moment, enter The Avengers.

The Avengers movie was in development for five years, the post credit scene on the Iron Man 2008 film hinted the plans for the Avengers movie, but nobody would expect that it will take another four Marvel films to build up the hype for the Avengers, and so far it was successful.

The story begins when Loki steals the blue cosmic cube in one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s secret facilities, as Loki tries to use the cube to put threaten Earth of an alien invasion, S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury assembles a group of heroes to stop Loki.

I’m all hands down to Joss Whedon’s creation, he managed to hit the sweet spot on this movie, being able to make the comic culture enjoyable to watch for both comic-fan and movie-lovers, and not to mention able to blend action and comedy to keep entertained for over two hours.

I’m also impressed that they managed to balance the screen time with the actors especially on the big guns like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth. Even characters portrayed by Jeremy Renner, Scarlet Johansson and Mark Ruffalo were given fair screen time with the big guns. I also liked how Mark Ruffalo portrayed Bruce Banner and they also gave justice to the Black Widow (played by Scarlet Johansson), I never felt her purpose on Iron Man 2 as she was more like an extra rather than a supporting cast. Robert Downey Jr. is still awesome as his role as the armored avenger Iron Man. Samuel L. Jackson may be a supporting cast on The Avengers, but he was still one badass boss (playing of course as Nick Fury).

The pacing of the movie is not that fast, which is good where you can feel like the event only happened in a single day or two. Viewers new to the superhero team will have no problem understanding with the movie (and another plus if they watched the previous Marvel films prelude to the Avengers). The combination of action with dialogue is well executed especially on the comedy parts, from the sarcastic lines from Mark Ruffalo to the punchlines of Robert Downey Jr. and to the epic lines of Tom Hiddleston as the Loki.

As for the action scenes, well of course we are all hands down to the awesome special effects and fight choreography, Marvel really made it sure that the movie will going to be awesome as you see your favorite super heroes brought to life.

Overall this is the BEST superhero movie to date, if you are a fan of the comic book, you will definitely love the adaptation, if you are a movie lover, you will surely drop your jaws on this movie.

And to make you convince that this movie is really worth to watch, it has just earned $200 million in the opening weekend in America, breaking the box office record set by Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows part 2. Here in the Philippines, they also break the record in the 5-day opening by earning PhP 280 million.

And as a tradition to all Marvel films, be sure not to leave your seats during the credit rolls, you are in for a big surprise.

The Avengers stars  Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson. It is written and directed by Joss Whedon.
