What a way to start 2012! Last January 10-13, 2012, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) was at it again. The yearly event held in Las Vegas, is owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). It serves as an avenue for different IT companies to show a preview of and give an update on any new products. This year’s CES was history in the making as Microsoft, one of the major participants, announced that 2012 would be its last CES participation.

But the history-making did not end there. REDFOX made it to the record books as the first Filipino-owned IT company to take part of the CES. Considering how big an event the CES is and how it has been dominated by multinationals since 1967, REDFOX’s inclusion was certainly a welcome development that could possibly pave the way for other Filipino IT companies’ future participation.

Established in 1988, REDFOX has been developing high-quality products like motherboards and video cards that have propelled it to the top of the IT industry for over 2 decades. REDFOX has offices in the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and China. It also has concept stores in Manila, Singapore, and China.

Just like the animal that represents it, REDFOX showed no intimidation against its multinational counterparts. It set up its booth at South Hall 2 of the Las Vegas Convention Center and presented its products that will be released this year, like the Smart TV, Tablets, and Ultrabooks.

The Philippine IT industry’s future in the international scene looks brighter than ever. And it has REDFOX to thank for that. By fearlessly entering a completely unfamiliar territory, REDFOX eliminated all doubts about local IT companies being able to compete with foreign powerhouses. With this achievement tucked under the Philippine IT industry’s belt, 2013 could be the year that local IT businesses make an impact on the international market via numerous CES participations.
