Toycon 2013 Launch Event Aftermath

One of the biggest geek event in the country, the Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention held their Launch Event and Press Conference at the Newport Mall in Resorts World Manila last May 25, 2013. Many would probably wonder why Toycon suddenly hosted their launch event away from their usual SM Megamall location, it’s just that they had a partnership with Resorts World Manila for their Epic Weekend special. You might thought that it’s the actual event that’s happening at the launch event, thanks to the 40 glass cabinets that are on display that featured several action figures and custom figures. There were also some retail store booths from Big Boys Toys and Great Toys Online that are selling discounted products. Pinoy Otaku Festival 2013 Event Aftermath

Arriving late on Day 2 at the Pinoy Otaku Festival 2013 , I was afraid that I might miss out on most of the activities. Luckily, the last few were very enjoyable and I got to see some very interesting people and exhibitions. Walking around the area, notable stuff around were: The Let’s Go Legit/Lean Mean Machines area, where they had several PS3s for people to enjoy. Also, they had a pretty nice rig set up for people to enjoy the epic Bioshock Infinite. Definitely something I’ll need to experience in full soon. There was also an area for people to register for Dragon Nest for some awesome swag. Their pretty girls were there to help out people and give away freebies. For the first time ever, Cherry Credits has launched its first out-of-the-country gaming convention for all of its fans in the Philippines, called Cherry Convention 2013. Together with Shanda Games International, and a couple of local sponsors, the two-day event (from March 9 to 10) became one of the most memorable conventions ever covered (for me, at least). The crowd at the Megatrade Hall was not comparable to the usual anime, cosplay, or gaming conventions in terms of size. However, the experience itself gave a special impression on not just only me, but probably to the majority of the people who came. Entrance and Registration Usually, gaming events require visitors to pay around Php 50 to 100+ as admission fee (some go as low as Php 20, or even free), but last week, people actually needed to cash out Php 270 to enter.
