Last November 12, 2011. The University of the Philippines Anime Manga Enthusiasts (UP AME) held their annual anime & manga convention (this year was its 11th), in which for this year it was dubbed as AME Monogatari, this was held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

The event was packed with anime, manga and even gaming enthusiasts from all over the metro, the venue was already crowded in the afternoon but it still doesn’t stop the fans to enjoy the event. This is a good thing they decided to move their venue to the World Trade Center for a much bigger one compared to last year.

There were new kinds of activity booths for the attendees to enjoy, some of them include a Sumo booth, Darts booth, Tarot booth. They even have a Ancient Japanese-themed cafe called Spirited Cafe. There is also booths from BlazBlue PH for the fighting game enthusiasts as well as a Dance Central Xbox 360 game to test your dancing moves. There were workshops such as figure maintenance, wearing a yukata and kimekomi art being presented by the organizers.

Figure enthusiasts will get to see a small exhibit by Team Onii-chan showcasing some of the latest anime figures. There are also other merchandise booths from the sponsors that were also at the event. From chikara hats to anime themed outfits and apparels to handcrafted and hand-drawn anime accessories.

Aside from booths, there were contests  which include the online contests like the mascot fanart, cosplay photography and short story writing. The onsite contests include the karaoke contest, t-shirt design and of course, the cosplay contest.

Overall, it was bigger and better and hopefully it would be the same for next year’s AME event.
