A Historical Movie with A Mass Effect

December is coming and of course in the Philippines aside from Christmas, there is this tradition where every year at this particular month, Filipino film makers are showcasing their best entry to promote the local movies, and this is the Metro Manila Film Festival.

And of course some of us are already tired of the same old recycled movies that are seen in the MMFF every year , but there is one movie that it really interesting…

El Presidente is a film that focuses on the very first President of the Republic of the Philippines; Emilio Aguinaldo during the Philippines Revolution, this of course will be handled by the same team who gave us The Manila Kingpin, you can really see the effort in producing this film, check out the trailer (thanks to Daniw de Leon for the Youtube video). however there is one thing that I’ve also noticed.

The music used in the trailer is very familiar, if you played Mass Effect 2, that was the end credits song as well as their launch trailer song, you can check the trailer below. The score is entitled “Heart of Courage” by Two Steps from Hell; a production music company that is creating music for trailers of popular movies and video games such as the Mass Effect Trilogy, Harry Potter series and TV series like Game of Thrones and Doctor Who, this score was even used for the trailer of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, on the side note the score fits very well with the trailer of El Presidente where it gives that epic feel.

The production team really know how to pick a song, I hope they have the permission to use it so it won’t be another ‘Sottohan’ moment (lol), be sure to watch El Presidente starring Jeorge E.R. Estregan, Cesar Montano, Nora Aunor, Christopher de Leon , Christine Reyes on December 25, 2012.
