Last April 28, we witnessed the press conference for the Pinoy Otaku Festival: Fantasm.

The Press Conference was held at the Sci-Fi Cafe in Robinsons Galleria, several people from the Otaku blogging scene were present at that time to witness Naruto Cosplayers Philippines (NCPH) their very first formal press conference. The group shared their plans for their upcoming Pinoy Otaku Festival: Fantasm, their first event was Pinoy Otaku Encore in 2011 at the Megatrade Hall.

One of the highlights in the press conference was the detailed info about their venue; which is at the Starland Themepark in Starmall Alabang. According to David D’Angelo, Vice President and PR-events of NCPH, this will be the first time that they will offer a new twist for otaku fans that will attend the event. The reason behind the title Fantasm is due to their concept of letting the cosplayers and the con-goers experience being in a fantasy world, and they selected the Code Geass series as their basis for their planned activities.

The admission will be free when you donate a notebook and any school supply like pen and pencils when you enter the event venue. There will be different passes for the con-goers, and each will play a role in some of the major activities in Fantasm. These are the Elevens, Honorary Britanians, Britanians and the VIP status Britanian Royalty; which nets you the two-day pass to the event, a 1-day access to the venue’s swimming pool (yes, a swimming pool) or the amusement rides, plus you can get unlimited baggage service, front row seat reservation and a free registration to one competition.

The different activities include the Cosplay Idol Season 2 Finals, in which finalists will show off their talents and cosplay performance, the Otaku Choice Awards  where they let the fans vote for their favorite video games, anime series and other personalities. The Asia music Festival Karaoke and Bandslam where bands and individuals compete for the best musical performance.

There is also the Bolen Lareza  Cosplay Competition, where all the cosplay contenders are kids as well as the judges, the Fantasm Cosplay Lives competition where they add realism to their cosplay performance and finally the Cosplay Checkers where the cosplayers will take part in a giant checkers board and become game pieces.
