3rd – Dawngate
Developer – Electronic Arts
Publisher – Electronic Arts
EA’s take on the Action RTS or Dota Like Genre, Dawngate is also one of the games to divert out of the traditional setup and opted to go for the 2-Lane Map Style introducing unique characters named as Shapers. Dawngate also fused in some of the Character Customization mechanics from League of Legends with each character gaining benefits from certain in-game items that directly affect their gameplay style. In addition, Dawngate also featured a role-selection mechanic in which, in addition to the in-game items for customization, would also add more benefits to a certain shaper depending on the player’s preferred playstyle. The game is still in the Closed Beta Phase but it sure is worth to try out if you want to get away from the normal or traditional Action RTS feel.
2nd – Strife
Developer – S2 Games
Publisher – S2 Games (NA and EU), AsiaSoft (SEA), YY Inc (China).
The second Action RTS by S2 Games and named as their “2nd Generation MOBA”, Strife is the much more “friendlier” approach to Action RTS showcasing a much more easier to attain Learning Curve in contrast to other popular titles. Strife features a much more hero-customization mechanic with its crafting feature which affects a hero’s playstyle by the way of tweaking in-game item effects and benefits. Still in its Closed Beta Phase, players are welcome to try out Strife easily as tons of CBT Keys are given away by its publishers giving a near-Open Beta feel. As what was stated Strife is a lot more friendlier when it comes to learning curves in contrast to other popular titles and a varying gameplay meta that can easily switch from all-out aggressive to a passive approach. Vibrant hero and environment designs also add to the friendly feel of the gameplay, making it a totally newbie-friendly Action RTS Title.
