Now let’s get down to business, the STRIX’s design is pretty much sleek and huge, it was really targeted for gamers who wants attitude on their headsets, though it may also make you look goofy when wearing it on outdoors. The headset was even inspired after a bird, when you try laying the headset flat on a surface, you can see an angry pair of bird’s eyes staring at you.
The design may be great in appearance, but its bulkiness is one of the issues for the STRIX Pro. As we did mentioned that the headset was a bit heavy (at around 320 grams), wearing this for more than 20 minutes can become uncomfortable. This could also be an issue for people with small heads, as there is no height adjustments for the headset
Despite the bulky headset, its audio quality is the main highlight. The STRIX Pro’s 60mm drivers can deliver great sound quality; not much bass and just the right amount of treble which provides a clean and flat audio, this may not have a 5.1 surround feature, but it can almost imitate 3D sounds suitable for First-Person Shooters. The sound quality is a great use for gaming, but in terms of movie and music playback, you may have to do some major tweaking to optimize the audio quality, but once you manage to improve the settings, you will be able to enjoy the STRIX Pro.
Aside from the good audio quality, its control box is a great addition. You can stick the control box on your desk and it won’t budge thanks to its stick pad beneath it. The control box lets you plug your STRIX Pro on it (the headset uses a 1.2mm jack) and you can unplug it with ease when you want to bring the headset somewhere. It also has volume control feature, using the volume dial is very smooth, you can adjust the volume with a slight turn on the dial, there’s also a switch to turn on and off on your microphone.
The detachable microphone, in terms of voice quality has its good and bad sides. On the good side, the Environmental Noise Cancellation helps eliminate any background noise, which helps a lot for your game chat sessions. On the bad side, the ENC can affect the audio quality of your voice, to remedy the issue, you can to place the microphone very near on your mouth, otherwise you can just turn the ENC off at the control box.
What’s also good with the STRIX Pro is that it is compatible to any device. With the included adapters in the package, you can use the headset to any latest line of smartphones and tablets even on the PlayStation 4 console. No hope for your old phones (2012 and earlier) as we tried testing the headset on it and it doesn’t work.
