The VG2439m’s design has more of the typical office monitor, which looks similar from the rest of Viewsonic’s monitor designs, with a black matte finish to compliment the overall look. But the design wasn’t the main highlight for this monitor, the stand allows the monitor to pivot from side to side, and allowing to tilt forward up to 5 degrees and backward to 20 degrees. You can even swivel the monitor to portrait view, perfect for those who prefer to use multiple displays.

It also has different input connectors, from HDMI to DVI and the new DisplayPort for the multi-screen function, which can produce both audio and video on your monitor. However, the built-in speaker is pretty weak (at just around 2 Watts) so it’s recommended that you look for a standalone speaker for your audio. There is also the USB 2.0 hub on the side for other peripheral usage, which is a good addition for those who are in need of more USB ports.

In the case of visual quality, the VG2439m can produce good quality images especially on the darker and brighter scenes with its dynamic contrast ratio feature, some of the text are much clearer even in a much smaller size, though we found some tearing issues in fast paced videos and games, which can be a letdown for some gamers who are into first person shooters with tons of action happening in the screen.

Overall the Viewsonic VG2439m is more of an office use rather than a full entertainment monitor, it may play some HD movies but there would be some tearing issues in fast action scenes. As for games, it can still be tolerable for RPG and RTS games, but it will have some issues on fighting games and shooters. If you are looking for a gaming monitor, you better look somewhere else, but if you need a larger monitor for your office work and can still handle some slow paced games and other movies, you can try getting the VG2439m
