Titanfall

The game that broke the modern setting stereotypes in first person shooters, Titanfall gave a refreshing setting and a familiar game mechanics with new twists. Even without a single player campaign, Titanfall still provides a good storyline on their multiplayer modes. This is a must play game for those who want a refreshing take on first person shooters, and people dig mechs.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

A Tolkien game not based on the Lord of The Rings or the Hobbit movies, but rather created a new character and story based on the Middle-Earth universe, and it was created very well. Offering an open world to explore and many side quests to complete, and not to mention the very Batman Arkham-ish combat and ever favorite Nemesis system, where each Uruk War Chiefs reacts differently to each actions you made. If you’re a Tolkien fan or into open world action games, you better get this now.

Super Smash Bros.

In an interesting twist, Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. to 2 platforms; 3DS and Wii U. Both plays the same with some exclusive game modes per platform, with over 50 characters to choose from and up to 8 players (4 for 3DS) can play in a single bout. Newcomers can easily learn to play the game from the get go and experts will take years to master the game. Super Smash Bros. is one of the best party games and heck this is now part of the competitive gaming tournaments nowadays.

Bravely Default

The reincarnation of the classic Final Fantasy, Bravely Default will give you dozens of hours of non-stop JRPG goodness. It offered more than a dozen of character classes to mix and match as well as a unique combat system where you can spend or save your turns. Let’s not also forget the amazing and memorable soundtrack composed by Sound Horizon, who also composed the Attack on Titan soundtrack.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

The game that combines the things great from DA: Origins and DA 2 with major improvements. The latest installment offers a massive world to explore, more quests to complete, partners to romance and choices to pick, plus you get to play as the Inquisitor that you can turn him or her into a fearless leader or as a ruthless warlord. Combat has been greatly improved, making it a favorite from both fans of DAO and DA 2, and not to mention an incredible script and voice acting that helped flesh out the characters. This makes as one of the best RPGs and also the best game for this year.
