Garena, Southeast Asia’s largest consumer Internet platform company, has announced that the free-to-play mobile RPG DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT is officially launched. Following the partnership between Square Enix Co., Ltd. (“Square Enix”) and Garena, the highly-anticipated game which was originally released only in Japanese, will now be available for download on Google Play and Apple app store across Southeast Asia, in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. From the highly acclaimed production team led by award-winning video game designer Yuji Horii, DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT (DQMSL) has been downloaded over 14 million times since it launched in Japan last January. The recent launch in Taiwan in February 2015 has already garnered over 1 million downloads.

“Square Enix is a renowned game developer in Japan and we are honoured to partner with them to launch DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT RPG in Southeast Asia,” said Chris Feng, Head of Mobile Business at Garena. “The DRAGON QUEST series has achieved remarkable success in Japan and we hope to leverage Garena’s platform to take this game to the next level in the region.”

DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT brings the classic Japanese RPG ‘DRAGON QUEST’ experience to gamers via a casual gameplay format on their smartphones. Together with Garena, it gives me great pleasure to introduce DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT to Southeast Asia,” said Takamasa Shiba, Producer of DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS SUPER LIGHT at Square Enix.

DQMSL is an interactive and visually-stimulating game that allows gamers to collect over 300 monsters from the DRAGON QUEST series. Presented in high-quality graphics, the Southeast Asian version of DQMSL will also include exclusive and highly localised monsters that reflect unique local cultures such as the Muay Thai Golem. DQMSL is a more casual, mobile-friendly version of the popular console game series, DRAGON QUEST. Gamers can play with their friends, take on other players in the monster arena, explore dungeons and solve various puzzles to become a leading Monster Scout.

The game has recently concluded a successful pre-registration promotion where many users took part in an online “Gachapon” or lucky draw to receive exciting monsters that can be used in-game. As testament to the popularity of the Dragon Quest series, the “Gachapon” has been rolled more than 890,000 times!

The Vietnamese version will be made available later in September 2015. Gamers may also scan the QR code below to download the game directly onto their smartphones.
