Talk about community effort, Speedrunning event raises a million in donations for charity.
Community effort in gaming can really go a long way and Games Done Quick proves it once more as its well known Speedrun Event, Summer Games Done Quick, manages to raise a rough total of $ 1,232,925.90 (as of writing this article) from 28,841 donations for the benefit of Médecins Sans Frontières or Doctors Without Borders, a humanitarian NGO known for its projects in the war ravaged regions of the world.
The Games Done Quick Summer Games benefit event started last week, July 26, 2015 and ended last Saturday, August 1, 2015, the Games Done Quick Summer Games featured over 150 titles, ranging from Super Mario, to Dark Souls, and even Batman Arkham Asylum, a livestream was also made available while the archived vods of the games are available for viewing at the GDQ YouTube Channel.
The donation total sits at $1,230,852. That will change a bit over the next few days, but it's still awe-inspiring. #SGDQ2015
