The console giant now finally unveils their planned smartphone project.

Miitomo

Officially revealed in an investor meeting, Nintendo finally announces their joint smartphone game project with DeNA, one of Japan’s biggest mobile developers.  Named as Miitomo, the upcoming free to play title will have social interaction as its central feature as users get to create avatars called Miis and engage with each other in a social environment, which, to some, may make it seem more of a social application rather than an actual game itself.

Miitomo is also said to be just the start of the string of smartphone projects by Nintendo and DeNA, as a total of 5 titles is planned to be released in the coming years. Miitomo is slated for release by 2016 for smartphone devices.
