Looking for an expansion on your storage of your Macbook? The Transcend JetDrive Lite 360 could be the solution.

Transcend has been providing storage solutions to different devices, this also includes for Apple’s Macbook. Now with their latest JetDrive expansion card, it can provide a boost on the storage department

Here is the specs of the JetDrive Lite 360

Capacity 64GB, 128GB, 256GB
Flash Type MLC
Maximum Performance Read 95MB/s, Write 60MB/s
Operating Voltage 2.7V ~ 3.6V
Operating Temperature -25°C (-13°F) ~ 85°C (185°F)
Durability 10,000 insertion/removal cycles
Warranty Limited Lifetime Warranty
*Note Speed may vary due to host hardware, software and usage.

The expansion card is smaller than a Nintendo 3DS cartridge and almost the size that of an SD card, but regardless on the size, it can carry a large amount of data. Inserting the JetDrive Lite is just a breeze, just insert it on the expansion slot on the side of your Macbook and you are good to go, however removing the card is a different story. It may require some time to properly remove the card as you need to slip your fingernails on the side and wiggle the card just enough to easily remove it, hopefully the future models of Macbook would have a similar mechanism in inserting and removing expansion cards just like in SD cards from ordinary laptops.

In terms of performance, the writing and reading speed of the JetDrive Lite is fast, at around 75MB/s in reading and around 25MB/s in writing, however it is not as fast as that from an SSD, making the expansion more useful in storing documents and music library rather than being used for gaming and watching videos.

The JetDrive Lite 360 comes in 3 variants (64GB for $40, 128GB for $60 and 256GB for $160)  and depending on your budget and preferred storage solution, this could be a useful tool for your daily storage use.
