Valve chooses Manila as host city for the next Dota 2 Major

Another big esport event arrives in Manila this year.

Announced via a post from the official Dota 2 website, Valve reveals Manila to be the next destination of its 2016 Spring Majors for Dota 2 following the current Majors in Shanghai, China.

The 2016 Dota 2 Spring Majors, now dubbed as the Manila Major will be held this coming August, and is part of the Major series hosted by Valve themselves which serves as the main qualifying events for its annual the “The International Dota 2 Championships” which currently holds the record for the biggest tournament when it comes to prizepool, starting from USD 1.6 Million from TI1, and growing up to a staggering USD 18.4 Million on its fifth installment, TI5.

The upcoming Manila Major is said to feature Php 141 Million or roughly USD 3 Million, and will be set to feature top teams, Team OG, Evil Geniuses and Team Secret, and as well as fan favorites such as Team Alliance.
