A Smartphone with the power of a PC, what a time to be alive.
Not everyone may be pleased about Mobile Gaming but it’s here and it’s happening and ASUS is one of those who are trying to really make it happen with their newest addition to their ROG premiere gaming line, the ROG Phone.
Built using a 6″ screen frame aesthetic the ROG smartphone packs a punch with a 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, with a Qualcomm Adreno 630 for its GPU. The phone also comes with its own dose of ROG RGB complete with customizable effects to personalize the glow of the ASUS ROG logo located at the back. Although not the first high-powered, Gaming oriented smartphone to hit the market, the ROG phone surpasses its closest rival, the Razer Gaming Phone, when it comes to add-ons and accessories as it comes with its own External Cooling unit, which can be connected directly through the USB 3 port located on its side, and yes, in contrast to the usual smartphone aesthetic, the ROG Phone has USB ports located at the side mainly to reduce the common hindrances of mobile gaming and that is playing on landscape mode and dealing with your charger wires.
Aside from its external cooling unit (which we really hope can overclock the smartphone’s CPU to somewhere above 3.0 GHz), the ROG Phone accessory range also includes a twin dock which enables a new level of multitasking power as it acts as some sort of dual screen for your phone. This is a very, very exciting addition, especially for content creators and streamers as they will be able to play AAA mobile games which checking their stream chat or manage other phone applications all at the same time. Aside from the Twin Dock, the ROG Phone also has a desktop dock which you can use to fully convert your ROG Phone into a mini PC as the dock comes with a display port, an HDMI port, multiple USB ports and even a LAN port, so you can connect multiple peripherals such as a mouse and keyboard if you feel like you wanna gain some edge on mobile FPS titles.
If in case you’re looking for a more of a couch gaming setup, the ROG phone also has a gamepad and its own specialized screen cast accessory, which really makes you feel like you’re handling an actual gaming console.
