ASUS ROG Zephyrus S: What’s in the box?

A new care package from ASUS Republic of Gamers has arrived so of course, we had to check out what was inside.

“Versatility that reigns supreme” is the tagline of ASUS Republic of Gamers’ Zephyrus S, the latest addition to the Zephyrus line, the model that was the first to bear the MaxQ design factor for ASUS Republic of Gamers.

We’ve been saying this a lot about ASUS ROG notebooks but damn this baby looks fine

Just like the other new releases from ASUS ROG, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S, or to be more specific, this particular model that we’re gonna be toying around in the next few days, the Zephyrus S GX502GW sports a thin-bezel high refresh rate, low latency display, and inside its 15-inch frame sits an Intel Core i7-9750H together with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-P. That’s right, it’s Max-P, not Max-Q.

The overall design is nothing too fancy, no extra RGBs nor LEDs, only a dark and shiny metallic finish on the outside and a matte-looking surface on the palm rest assembly. Ports are nearly evenly distributed on both sides with the right side containing 2 standard USB type-A ports and a Type-C port, while on the left you would find the third USB type-A port together with the HDMI and RJ45 ports, the charging port, and your speaker/headphone jack and as well as a separate microphone jack.

Now we did mention that this notebook utilizes the Max-Q design factor despite having Max-P card and that means that when you look at the back, there is a flap that opens up once you open the laptop. This mechanism or feature was, in a way, a compromise to help maximize airflow while maintaining the standard of the Max-Q design factor which calls for thinner, lighter laptops.

That there’s called a flap
